Allocation announcements, as they land
Last updated Jul 8, 2026
Announced at 25% as of May 19, 2026.
I'll write a page note for the CVP South of Delta Agricultural Allocation tracker:
---
Page Note:
The Central Valley Project (CVP) allocates surface water to agricultural contractors in California's Central Valley. This page tracks the annual allocation percentage announced for CVP South of Delta agricultural customers.
What you're seeing:
- Current allocation: 25% as of May 19, 2026
- Timeline: Allocations are announced incrementally throughout the water year (typically starting January) as hydrologic conditions become clearer
- Data source: Official CVP allocation announcements from the Bureau of Reclamation
Why it matters: South of Delta agricultural customers depend on CVP water for irrigation. Allocation percentages indicate how much of each contractor's contracted water entitlement they'll actually receive that year. Lower allocations (like 25%) signal water scarcity; higher allocations (50%+) indicate more water availability.
How to interpret:
- 0–25%: Severe drought conditions; groundwater reliance required
- 26–50%: Moderate scarcity; supplemental sources needed
- 50%+: Near-normal water availability
- 100%: Full allocation; normal water year
Allocations typically increase or stabilize as the water year progresses and spring runoff is measured.

Is this for a water management dashboard you're building, or are you tracking this for one of your projects?
